Nähdä metsä puilta – forest dictionary

Visualising knowledge about environmental crises is tricky not only because of insufficient and complex quantitative data, but because of the underlying qualitative aspects such as our relationship with nature. What is our current understanding of nature, and our part in it? This dictionary explores the topic by compiling words connected to forests from different spheres of life. This dictionary is not meant to be exhaustive, but rather shed light on the fragmented view we have of nature. It’s compiled of words either misunderstood, fuzzy in their meaning, used in conflicting ways or disregarded. The project is meant to be food for thought, and hopefully provide tools to join the discussion from a less anthropocentric perspective.
